Keith Rule

Director of UK office and Client Services Manager

Keith is a businessman from Milton Keynes and was once a Costaluz Lawyers client himself. He was the one who insisted we made claims against banks for payment instalments for off-plan purchases. His persistence paid off and our legal firm is a pioneering force in Spain in this field as a result.

His empathy towards the client is second to none since he too was a client and experienced first-hand the worry, doubts and difficulties suffered during a court process in Spain. He loves Spain and because of this, shares María’s mission to make it an attractive and transparent country for investment, retirement and business. He has worked for Costaluz Lawyers since 2013.

María del Carmen Romero

Manager of the Spanish office

María studied Public Management and Administration and Court Procedures. She manages the court procedures at Costaluz Lawyers and shares with Keith the task of client services and information in the legal field.

She knows the Spanish legal process inside out, and this knowledge allows us to push cases forward that may otherwise get stuck or held up in the system. She has expert management and customer service skills. She also coordinates the legal firms and professionals who make up our network of collaborators.

She has been working with us since 2012.

Andrés Sánchez-Barriga

Immigration, Nationality & Mobility Lawyer

Andrés Sánchez-Barriga is a Spanish lawyer specialised in immigration, nationality and international mobility law. A Law graduate with postgraduate studies in Legal Practice and Legal Advisory, he advises international clients on residence permits, including Digital Nomad Visas, Highly Qualified Professional permits and non-lucrative residence applications, as well as nationality procedures.

He is also involved in Employment Law at Despacho Sánchez-Barriga, a recognised labour law firm based in Sevilla, where he provides support on employment matters and workplace-related legal issues, complementing his international mobility work with knowledge of labour and compliance aspects.

His practice includes advising international clients, including high-net-worth individuals, remote workers and families relocating to Spain, offering practical guidance throughout the process, from initial planning to resolution. His work also includes support with regularisation processes and other residence pathways.

He collaborates with Costaluz Lawyers as an associated lawyer.

Jorge Medialdea

Lawyer and Director of the Legal Department

Jorge has nearly a decade of experience in making off-plan purchase claims against banks. As well as getting refunds or better deals for clients, he also runs and manages the rest of the company’s legal services.

These include conveyancing, mortgage cancellations, wills, claims against insurance companies and the Spanish authorities, and rentals.

Álvaro Diz Sánchez

Tax Law Specialist

Álvaro holds degrees in Law and in Finance and Accounting from the University of Seville (US), and also completed an academic placement at the Autonomous University of the Caribbean (Colombia).

In addition, he holds an LL.M. in Corporate Tax Advisory, a Master’s degree for admission to the legal profession, and an MBA module from the Instituto de Empresa (IE).

Throughout his professional career, Álvaro has worked at highly prestigious national and international firms, and is an expert in tax law.

Among other matters, Álvaro specialises in ongoing advisory work for companies and high-net-worth individuals, personal and corporate structuring, planning of related economic flows, M&A transactions, family business taxation, and tax proceedings, both at domestic and international level.

He speaks Spanish and English.

Member no. 137,615 of the Madrid Bar Association.

Member no. 6,372 of the Spanish Association of Tax Advisers (AEDAF).

Teresa Budiño

Corporate & Insolvency Law Specialist

Teresa is a Spanish lawyer specialised in corporate, maritime and insolvency law. A Law graduate from the University of Seville with postgraduate studies at Centro de Estudios Garrigues – Harvard, she has extensive experience advising companies in commercial, maritime and restructuring matters and acting as Insolvency Administrator. She collaborates with Costaluz Lawyers as an associated lawyer through her firm, Necker Abogados.

Guadalupe Pérez de Vargas

Corporate & Insolvency Law Specialist

Guadalupe is a Spanish lawyer specialised in corporate and insolvency law and in the Second Chance mechanism. She has solid experience representing individuals and companies in restructuring and insolvency proceedings and regularly acts as Insolvency Administrator before commercial and civil courts. Antonio Barba
